Of Mission Possible…
Alhamdulilah. We’ve completed all the hamper orders! After countless nights of McD midnite deliveries and mamak’s kopi ais ‘kaw kaw punye’ to keep us awake and stay awake the next day, alhamdulilah we’ve accomplished it. And we put on weight (read: a lot) of course!
We’ve lost count of the number of orders tho they weren’t that many. You see, we did everything; from baking the cookies to packing them (yes, it’s true dat we have 12 staff to help with the cookies, but we still need to be there to bancuh, monitor and everythg, right?), from arranging/tumbling the contents of the hampers to sealing/blowing them, from selecting the baskets/decos/ribbons to making sure they stick; we did everything ourselves. So, it was only logical for us to not remember the exact numbers of hampers.
The most memorable-but-not-very-pleasant experience this year I would say, was when we had to pull an all-nighter to help our supplier completed our orders. They were due the next day. Although the purchase orders have been given to the supplier months before, the supplies weren’t ready on time. We had to pull our sleeves and involve in getting the orders ready since we’ve promised our clients. We can’t afford to lose their trust. I couldn’t remember when I reached home, at 2 myb, but I remember having my sahur with my eyes and mouth shut. Hahahha. The very next morning, we had to leave the house and continue the labour for a few more hours STANDING! In the afternoon, we had to go back to complete another sets of hampers. Pheww..! And we still gained a few pounds after all the hard work! Very not fair.
The next few days, just when we thought we could wrap things up and call it a day, with a few days to spare for raya shopping, we received a call from the palace. Yes, THE palace. They needed 24,000++ pieces of cookies to be ready and packed in 3 days! Yes, we received orders from the palace every year, alhamdulilah, but it was never this last minute.
It wasn’t very easy because the cookies needed either to be zig-zaged with white chocolate or V-ed with slices of cherries. But we took the challenge anyway and completed it within the 3 days, with lots of sweat and tears. Hahaah. I remembered saying to my mother and staff that I rather ‘mengadap’ the Sultan than mengadap the cookies. Hahaha.
And there was only one day left b4 hari raya. It was that last morning that I took my kain raya to the tailor and got my instant baju raya 2 hours after that. Talking about today’s rapid changing world, huh?
Anyway, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all our clients for their trust and interest in our products. We’ve received sooo many positive feedbacks and constructive comments about our products. Thank you and we hope to do business with you again
We would like to wish all of you
Selamat Hari Raya
Maaf Zahir & Batin
Btw, I will upload the hampers pictures very soon.
